Mayor John Maher opened the public hearing duly advertised in the September 1, 2005 Port Washington News, to consider adopting Bill No. 1 of 2005 as a local law to provide for the codification of the local laws, ordinances and certain resolutions of the Village of Baxter Estates into a municipal code to be designated the “Code of the Village of Baxter Estates.” A stenographic transcript of the hearing was made and is appended to these minutes. All those present wishing to speak having been heard Mayor Maher closed the public hearing.
On the motion of Trustee Comer, seconded by Trustee Baldwin, it was unanimously RESOLVED that Bill No. 1 of 2005 be adopted as Local Law No. 1 of 2005, a copy of which is appended to these minutes and made a part thereof.
Vote was recorded as follows: Trustee Comer-aye, Trustee Keenanaye, Trustee Schneck-aye, Trustee Baldwin-aye, Mayor Maher-aye.
Other matters that came before the Board:
Margaret Murphy questioned whether the residents had had sufficient
notification of the meeting. The Board indicated that the Village had met all
legal obligations and stated that any resident interested in the operations of
the Village should attend the Village meetings. Mayor Maher stated he
welcomed the residents’ active involvement in Village affairs and stated that the newly established web site should improve communications and efficiency in the Village.
Stuart Rosen requested clarification of the Order to Remedy Violation issued for his fence. Attorney Prior stated that Zoning Code violations are the domain of the Building Inspector. Mr. Rosen requested a meeting with Trustee Baldwin and the Building Inspector to resolve the matter
Mayor Maher stated he would like to change the date of the next
meeting of the Board of Trustees, as he would be unavailable on October 3rd.
On the motion of Mayor Maher, seconded by Trustee Keenan, it was unanimously RESOLVED that the next meeting of the Board of Trustees be held on October 11th at 7:30PM.
Mayor Maher stated that he wanted to move ahead on the issues of the illegal parking pads and the Municipal Tracking System. Attorney Prior will review the MTS proposal and draft a contract. Attorney Prior will draft a letter regarding the illegal parking pads.
The Board discussed the relocation of the Village Hall. Several locations are under consideration.
There being no further business before the Board the meeting was adjourned at 9:35PM.
The next meeting of the Board of Trustees be held on October 11th at 7:30PM
